The Woodland Adventure Race has four stages.
Participants must complete each stage in order:
Between each stage, participants must walk to the next starting point:
What is the total distance participants travel during the entire Adventure Race Challenge?
To calculate the total distance, we need to convert all measurements to the same unit (meters) and add them up.
1. Canoe: 2 km = 2000 m
2. Walk to forest trail: 150 m
3. Hike forest trail: 5000 m
4. Walk to rock wall: 75 m
5. Climb rock wall: 25 m
6. Walk to mountain path: 200 m
7. Run mountain path: 3.5 km = 3500 m
Now, let’s add all distances:
2000 + 150 + 5000 + 75 + 25 + 200 + 3500 = 10,950 m
Therefore, the total distance participants travel during the entire Adventure Race Challenge is 10,950 meters or 10.95 km.
We can also present this in a table format:
Stage | Distance (m) | Cumulative Distance (m) |
---|---|---|
Canoe | 2000 | 2000 |
Walk | 150 | 2150 |
Hike | 5000 | 7150 |
Walk | 75 | 7225 |
Climb | 25 | 7250 |
Walk | 200 | 7450 |
Run | 3500 | 10,950 |
