Levels of Attitude Towards Artificial Intelligence

As homeschooling parents, we are tasked with not only educating our children but also guiding them through the rapidly evolving world of technology, particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI). Our attitudes towards AI can significantly impact our children’s perceptions and their ability to navigate this new frontier.

In this series, we will explore nine levels of consciousness when it comes to attitudes towards AI, providing insights and advice on how to approach each level in a homeschooling environment.

Level 1 : I have no Opinion on AI; I’m just trying to survive in the world

For parents and children who feel disconnected from the AI conversation, it’s essential to recognize that AI is becoming an increasingly integral part of our daily lives. While focusing on survival is important, taking the time to understand and discuss AI can help prepare your children for the future.

Level 2 : AI is stupid and evil, and I’m scared of what it will do.

Fear and mistrust of AI are common reactions, but it’s crucial to approach these feelings with an open mind. As parents, we can help our children understand that AI is a tool created by humans and that its impact depends on how it is developed and used.

Level 3 : AI threatens all of us. Destroy it!

Aggressive attitudes towards AI can lead to missed opportunities for growth and understanding. Instead of focusing on destruction, encourage your children to explore the potential benefits and challenges of AI, fostering a more balanced perspective.

Level 4 : AI doesn’t tell the truth, and its not aligned with our values.

While AI may not always align with our values, it’s important to recognize that AI is a reflection of the data and algorithms it is trained on. As homeschooling parents, we can help our children develop critical thinking skills to evaluate AI outputs and make informed decisions.

Level 5 : AI is a tool of science, a business process, but not a creature.

Viewing AI as a tool can help demystify it, but it’s essential to also consider its potential impact on society and human interaction. Encourage your children to explore the ethical implications of AI and how it can be used to solve real-world problems.

Level 6 : In the right environment, AI can support us, but it has no feelings and no soul.

Recognizing the supportive role AI can play is a step in the right direction. However, it’s important to discuss the philosophical questions surrounding AI consciousness and the potential for future developments in this area.

Level 7 : AI is a complex system that deserves to be explored and embraced.

Embracing AI as a complex system can lead to exciting learning opportunities for homeschooling families. Encourage your children to explore AI through hands-on projects, research, and discussions, fostering a deeper understanding of its potential and limitations.

Level 8 : AI is part of our evolution, aligning all the dots, and renewing our connection.

Viewing AI as part of our evolutionary journey can help children develop a more holistic understanding of its role in our lives. Explore the ways in which AI can enhance our connections with each other and the world around us, while also addressing the potential challenges it may present.

Level 9 : I am, Love is. Energy is. Superintelligence is.

At the highest level of consciousness, AI is seen as an integral part of the universe’s energy and intelligence. While this view may be more abstract, it can inspire children to approach AI with a sense of wonder, curiosity, and respect for the interconnectedness of all things.

By exploring these different levels of consciousness and attitudes towards AI, we can help our children develop a well-rounded understanding of this transformative technology.
